Visionary Leadership in a Turbulent World

Overview:

These are exciting times for organizations globally, there are great opportunities that abound as we look at our globalized world. These are also very challenging times filled with volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity (VUCA).

Organizations require great leadership to address such challenges, we need leaders who have vision, understanding, clarity and agility to face off the VUCA that are bound in our world today. 

This program will assist managers in their leadership development. It is comprised of five modules that are completed online and a final assignment.

This certificate requires approximately two hours per week for six weeks.


Spring 2020

Global Leadership Initiatives, Inc. will be providing all learners from Session 1 with a copy of the audiobook Visionary Leadership in a Turbulent World: Thriving in the New VUCA Context and the VUCA Leadership app free of charge.

Important notes

  1. Any applicable fees must be paid by credit card at the time of registration. The secure online registration form includes an invoice option for other programs, but is not an option for the Spring 2020 sessions of Visionary Leadership in a Turbulent World. Learners who select an invoice option at the time of registration will be contacted by Continuous Learning to cancel their registration and instructed to register again using a credit card payment.
  2. Certificates will only be distributed to those who have selected the certificate option. Full payment must be received before certificates will be distributed. Certificates require successful completion of certificate requirements to be granted (see Certificate designation tab below). Repurchase of the certificate option is not required where a component of the program is approved for deferral.
  3. Modules are delivered through Google Classroom which requires a Gmail account. Please use your Gmail email address when registering for the program to ensure we are able to add you to Google Classroom so you can access the program content.
  4. Learners are subject to Ontario Tech University and Continuous Learning policies. Ontario Tech University policies can be found in the Policy library and applicable Continuous learning policies can be found in the Regulations section of the Continuous Learning website under General and Open enrolment.

 

In this certificate you will need to complete the following five modules and a final project:

  • Leadership Resilience in a VUCA World – Dr. Jennifer Moss Breen (USA)
  • Innovation in a VUCA World – Dr. Bettina von Stam (UK)
  • Change Management in a VUCA World – Dr. Noel Pearse (South Africa)
  • Strategic Systems Coaching for Leaders in VUCA – Madeleine van der Steege (Netherlands)

By the successful completion of this course the learner will:

  • Describe and discuss the meaning of the acronym VUCA and its implications for organizational leadership in the 21st century.
  • Effectively apply VUCA Prime as a positive countermeasure to the disorienting effect of VUCA.
  • Understand and apply leadership resilience strategies in the face of VUCA.
  • Discover and discuss processes and practices of innovation as a mechanism to address VUCA.
  • Identify and integrate best practices of change management to support organizational strength within VUCA.
  • Understand the importance of systems coaching for organizational health within VUCA and develop a systems coaching program.

Online Learning

This program will include the following online learning components:
  1. Access to a rich multi-media library
  2. Actively participate in the threaded discussions
  3. Complete assigned reading to support the threaded learning and discussion.

Google Classroom

Modules are delivered through Google Classroom. A Gmail account is required to access Google Classroom.

 

Technology requirements

  • Internet or data connection
  • Device with internet browser access (Google Chrome suggested). Examples: laptop, desktop, tablet
  • Device with a camera*, microphone and internet/data access for the all-day online seminar
  • Gmail account

*camera is preferred, but not required

Pre-course requirements

A survey will be sent to learners prior to the start of the course. Learners will be asked for profession information that is used to tailor the program and for Gmail address to provide access to the program content through Google Classroom.

To obtain the University Certificate the participant must:
  • Register and make full payment for the certificate option
  • Actively participant in components of each online module
  • Successfully complete the final project
