We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

Virtual Presentations: Make an Impact

Overview:

This workshop is designed to help you deliver presentations and evaluate your progress as you develop and
refine your skills, techniques and delivery. 

Upon successful completion you will be able to deliver informative, motivating and memorable presentations;
explore ways to communicate with clarity and conviction throughout your presentation; and rivet your audience’s
attention using technology to enhance not detract.

  • Recent graduates;
  • Those entering the workforce or job prospecting;
  • Those looking to build their professional skills and abilities; 
  • Anyone who desires ongoing career development.
  • 90 minute workshop

    This workshop includes, but is not limited to:

    • Group discussions
    • Individual work
      • Includes at-home work, readings/videos
      • Direct and individualized feedback on lessons and assignments

Online course delivery is a synchronous format. This means you must attend the virtual class at specified date and time.

Zoom Virtual Classroom and/or Google Meet is used for online delivery to support interaction and engagement.
Online learning requirements:
  • Computer with internet access
  • Stable internet or data connection
  • Microphone
  • Webcam
  • Audio device (examples: speakers, headphones/earbuds, headset)
A workbook may be provided to all learners in advance of the workshop if the course. Learners may wish to complete certain tasks in the workbook prior to the workshop to take full advantage of the workshop time for feedback.

Those completing the Virtual Presentations: Make an Impact workshop are subject the policies of Ontario Tech University and Continuous Learning. Ontario Tech policies can be found in the Policy library. Continuous Learning policies can be found in the Regulations section of the Continuous Learning website. Specifically, those completing the Team Resiliency Skills Through Change workshop are expected to adhere to the the General and Open enrolment regulations.
