Documentary Photography Studio (Online)
Overview:
This studio course investigates conceptual and formal approaches to documentary photography. Topics include concept development, shooting methodology, the editing process, and ethical issues of cultural and the social representation. Students will focus on one project and create high quality images (print or digital) within the context of a documentary narrative. Studio work will be supported by technical demonstrations, presentations about historical and contemporary documentary photography, and group critiques. Students are responsible for the cost of printing.
Students must have access to and working knowledge of a digital SLR or mirrorless camera.

Students are required to provide their own laptops with Adobe CC Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign software to complete the in-class assignments. Students are responsible for purchasing their own supplies. Regular access to a computer with a high-speed broadband internet connection is required.

Online courses are delivered through a series of tutorials and related assignments that students may complete at their own pace on our Learning Management System, Canvas. The instructor is available throughout the course time period for questions and discussions. Learn more about what to expect in an online course at OCAD U.
