Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

Healthcare Providers CPR Recertification

CPR Recertification

The Healthcare Provider CPR Recertification is designed to renew credentials for another year. The course assumes knowledge and skill proficiency in Healthcare Provider concepts. This fast-paced course is for students who are confident in their CPR skills, use their skills regularly, require limited practice and who already possess a valid HCP CPR certificate.

Nursing Students

NEW!  Continuous Learning is now the provider of CPR certification and recertification for Healthcare Providers (HCP) for Nursing students.

 A valid CPR for Healthcare Providers certification is required for all Nursing students before they are cleared to go on placement.  CPR for HCP certification is valid for 1-year only and must be recertified prior to placement.  Students who obtained their CPR certification with another company can recertify on campus through Continuous Learning.

Recertification Prerequisite

Valid HCP CPR certificate (Issued no less than 12 months prior to training date)
HCP Adult, Child and Infant Rescue

Program length - 2 – 2.5 hours

Program content includes:

• Learn to manage an emergency medical situation using the Lifesaver 101 Rules of 123 & ABC
• Recognize and treat shock
• Use the Lifesaver 101™ Survival Links to manage a cardiac emergency
• Administer adult, child and infant CPR
• Recognize and treat conscious/unconscious choking for adults, children and infants
• Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) on adults, children and infants
• CPR and AED Team rescue
