We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

Information for guests

We can all take great pride in this moment for our graduates. Family, friends and supporters play an important role in the academic success of our students. We look forward to celebrating with you.

Guest tickets

Tickets are required to attend convocation. Students are eligible to claim two guest tickets and may join a waitlist for additional tickets. Any remaining tickets will be distributed to the waitlist in late May. Students must claim their tickets through a registration process and provide them to their guests. Guests must present their ticket upon arrival to be scanned for entry.

Arrival and parking

Ceremonies will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. with the Graduate Procession. Guests are encouraged to arrive between 30 to 60 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony. While tickets are required, seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Free parking is available in Founders Lot 2. Overflow parking is available in the campus parking lots north of Conlin Road: Founders Lot 3, Founders Lot 4 and Founders Lot 5. An accessible drop-off location is on Avenue of Champions.

Accessibility

Convocation is outdoors in Polonsky Commons on the university’s north Oshawa campus location. The ceremony will take place under a tent, rain or shine. Please view the campus map to familiarize yourself with the location of the ceremony as well as parking, accessible drop-off location and the restrooms.

Degree Frames, flowers and merchandise

The Campus Store will be on-site for degree frame and Ontario Tech merchandise sales.
Alumni merchandise will be sold onsite at Convocation.
Convocation Flowers will have bouquets available for purchase, and offer online pre-orders.
