Students will explore innovative AI applications through programs and courses that span:
- Business and analytics: From ethical data use to AI-driven decision-making.
- Engineering and computing: Machine learning, robotics, cybersecurity and human-AI systems.
- Health sciences: AI in patient care, diagnostics and health systems.
- Education and communication: Preparing the next generation to learn, teach and communicate using AI.
- Social sciences and humanities: Exploring the ethical, legal and societal impacts of AI.
- Computer and data science: Exploring algorithms, data, AI, and computational thinking to build next-generation intelligent systems.
SEAI offers the highest number of applied and interdisciplinary AI programs in Canada, including undergraduate and graduate studies.
Why SEAI?
AI is revolutionizing how we work, communicate and learn, influencing health care, cybersecurity, business, media and education. Yet, few institutions have created a dedicated school to guide this transformation. We envision a future where every student graduates with the technical skills to excel in an AI-driven world, and with the ethical foundation to use those skills wisely.

Artificial intelligence is no longer just a specialization; it’s a discipline shaping our future. With our School of Ethical Artificial Intelligence, we’re ensuring that Canada leads in AI innovation as well as in responsible AI education and application. Dr. Lori Livingston Provost and Vice-President, Academic
SEAI’s objectives include:
- Lead with ethics: Make responsible AI development and deployment the cornerstone of our teaching and research.
- Break down silos: Connect disciplines across all faculties to create truly interdisciplinary AI programs.
- Expand access: Offer undergraduate and graduate pathways that integrate technical expertise with real-world impact.
- Drive innovation: Partner with industry, government and community organizations to provide experiential learning, research opportunities and career pathways.
Research and collaboration
SEAI builds on the foundation of our Mindful Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (MAIRI) and draws on world-class faculty and research partnerships. From adversarial machine learning to AI in health care, our faculty and students push boundaries, always guided by ethical principles.

By connecting researchers across disciplines, the School of Ethical Artificial Intelligence creates a dynamic space for new ideas, collaborations, and solutions that serve industry and society. Dr. Les Jacobs Vice-President, Research and Innovation
