Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

    We are excited that you may be a new member in our OTSU family. Here are some of our services, which will help shape your university experience: 

    • Clubs and Societies: Over 100 student groups built around hobbies, academic passions, and cultural celebration.
    • First Impressions: A single stop for gently used, professional clothing that can help you make a lasting first impression at that job interview or co-op placement.
    • Grad Photos: We know you haven’t started school yet, but in a few short years you will be getting ready to graduate and we want to help capture the moment for you.
    • Health and Dental Plan: A comprehensive plan that covers prescriptions, vision, massage and more. Your health is important to us, so this plan does it all!
    • Legal Service: Unlimited access to a 24 hour legal hotline and consultation with a legal team virtually.
    • Student Appeals: Our team can help guide you through the academic appeal process and advise on next steps.
    • Tax Clinic: Going to university means you’ve become an adult, and part of being an adult is filing taxes. We can help with that too.
    • Zen Zone: A peaceful place at the Downtown Campus where you can engage in independent self-care activities.

    When you come to Ontario Tech we want you to love it here. We're confident our lineup of events will ensure that you love your student experience as much as we do! Here is a taste of some of our events:

    • Orientation Week Programming: Residence Move-In, Paint Cannon Parties, Carnivals, Concerts, Gaming Nights; the lineup always changes but the fun remains the same.
    • The Fall Fair: Everything Fall has to offer! Enjoy pumpkin carving, snacks, axe throwing, and a delightful petting zoo right here on Polonsky Commons.
    • Pangaea: This cultural showcase comes fully equipped with student performances, cuisine from around the world, and student language booths.
    • Bill Nye the Science Guy: On Campus: Tech is in our name, so we brought in Bill Nye to discuss how technology can help us change the world.
