Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

Digital Learning Committee

OVERALL MANDATE

The Digital Learning Committee (DLC) has been formed to provide effective oversight and recommendations on digital educational technology to enhance the quality of academic technology standards and improve the overall student experience. The DLC provides a platform for collaborative discussion to foster and promote the vision and strategic objectives of Information Technology at Ontario Tech. This committee will advise on the technology requirements, project responsibilities and action needed on all levels of academic and administrative management responsible for each department at the university.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF COMMITTEE

  1. Provide recommendation to the IT executive committee on emerging learning technologies trends.
  2. Evaluate existing IT services and resources available to aid academic learning technologies.
  3. Advise on the adoption and integration of best practices to use for digital learning technologies to improve learner engagement.
  4. Recommend emerging information technology trends to the IT executive committee
  5. Provide expertise to review and ensure appropriate approval of the business requirements.
  6. Strategically identify and prioritize funding for educational digital technology related projects.
  7. Make updates to the IT projects roadmap and relevant policies and procedures.
  8. Provide up-to-date communication on current and upcoming technologies available for the university community.

GOVERNANCE

The Digital Learning Committee will serve as an advisory to Budget & IPPC on digital learning technology services and initiatives

Once every quarter at minimum or as required by the committee members

COMMUNICATION

Committee members will be responsible for disseminating information on strategic objectives and recommendations to all levels of academic and administrative management responsible for each department at the university. The committee members will also provide the departmental feedback in the committee meetings.
