Event and guest parking
Ontario Tech and Durham College have selected HONK Mobile as the official parking technology provider for event and guest parking. HONK Mobile provides a centralized platform for managing parking validations, including QR codes, promo codes, and pre-registered guest parking, creating a scalable and user-friendly solution for events of all sizes.
Please review the event and guest parking protocol below and incorporate parking considerations into your departmental event planning processes.
-
Meetings and events hosting 25 vehicles or fewer
Each faculty and department will have access to a self-service online parking portal where authorized users can register guest license plates and arrange parking in advance. Parking fees for validated spots will be charged back to respective areas on a monthly basis.
Department and faculty representatives who would like an account for their unit(s) are kindly asked to complete the account request form or email parking@ontariotechu.ca to request an account setup. Parking Services staff will respond with details on how to access the portal, user training, and support resources.
-
Meetings and Events Hosting More Than 25 Vehicles
Events expected to host more than 25 vehicles must submit an Event parking request form 14 days in advance of their event. This allows Parking Services to review anticipated parking demand, confirm space availability, and coordinate parking arrangements that support both event attendees and the ongoing needs of students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors.
Submitting a request does not guarantee parking availability. Early submission is encouraged to provide the greatest flexibility in accommodating your event.

Sign up for the information session
To support implementation, Parking Services will host a stakeholder information session on Tuesday, August 18 to demonstrate the HONK Mobile platform and review the new event parking process. This recorded session will be uploaded to the Parking Services website for reference.
Date and time: Tuesday, August 18: 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Parking fees
Parking remains a paid service at all times.
Event organizers may choose to:
- Have attendees pay posted parking rates directly.
- Include parking costs within event budgets and provide parking validations to attendees.
Parking costs should be incorporated into event budgets where appropriate. Please refer to the Parking Services website for the most up-to-date parking rates.

- Gates will not be lifted to accommodate events.
- Reserved cones may not be used unless authorized by Parking Services.
- Handwritten or printed parking passes are not permitted.
- Dashboard notes are not recognized as parking authorization.
- Verbal approvals do not constitute parking authorization.
Parking regulations will continue to be actively enforced 24/7.
Vehicles that are not properly registered or have not paid applicable parking fees may be subject to ticketing. Repeated parking offenses may result in clamping and/or towing.
