Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

The university provides parking facilities for students, faculty, staff and visitors. Generally, paid parking is in effect on campus 24/7, unless you are attending a special event (e.g. Open House).

Short-term parking

Short-term parking is available at an hourly rate at the university's north Oshawa campus location in pay-and-display lots:

  • Champions South (seven spots available in front of Pavilion only)
  • Founders Lot 2
  • Founders Lot 3 (Software and Informatics Research Centre)
  • Founders Lot 4 
  • Commencement Lot
  • Visitors Lot 1 (Located on the west side of Simcoe Village Residence)
  • Visitors Lot 2 (Located at Durham College's Student Services Building)

Daily parking

Daily parking at the north Oshawa location is available in all gated parking lots with the exception of Founders Lot 1. If you arrive at a lot and it is full, please use the assistance button on the parking entrance column.

If paying at the exit (credit card only):

  1. Insert the original ticket into the parking exit column.
  2. The screen on the column will indicate the required payment.
  3. Insert your credit card in the same slot where you inserted your ticket, with the magnetic stripe down and to the right.
  4. Once payment is verified, the gate will open and the exit column will issue a receipt from the same slot.

Day passes

Day passes are available for purchase at pay stations.

Pay stations accept cash, coins, debit and credit cards. They are located in Founders Lot 2 (south-east corner), and Commencement Lot (two pay stations) at the university's north Oshawa location.

Note: Patrons paying with cash must visit a pay station to process their payment. 

Evenings and weekends (in gated lots at the north Oshawa location)

  • Evenings: 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.  
  • Weekends: 5 a.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.

Visitor parking at the university's downtown Oshawa location

  • Visitor parking is available in public parking lots and on city streets. Please refer to the City of Oshawa's website for rate information.

Parking permits

Parking permits are available for purchase online. All faculty, staff and students who park or expect to park in the permit lots must complete a parking permit application and pay the applicable parking fee. Permits are non-transferable. For information about rates, or to buy a permit, please visit the Parking Services website. You will need a valid email address to register and buy a permit.

Permit coverage

  • Annual: September 1 through August 31
  • Semester:
    • September 1 to December 31
    • January 1 to April 30
    • May 1 to August 31

Please ensure your vehicle’s licence plate is registered and kept up to date on the Parking Services website under the Vehicles tab.

Parking refunds

  • Refund rates vary, depending on the month a pass was purchased and returned. See the Parking Services office (located at the main entrance of the Gordon Willey Building) for details. 
  • Refunds are available only on a monthly basis, and are the same regardless of the method of payment (staff or student).
  • The cut-off for parking refunds is on or before end of business day on:
    • Annual passes: March 31.
    • Fall passes (September to December): November 30.
    • Winter passes (January to April): March 31.
    • Summer passes (May to August): July 31. 


Designated carpool spots are available at the north Oshawa campus location. To register for the carpool program, visit the Parking Services office located at the main entrance of the Gordon Willey Building, or call 905.721.2000 ext. 2145.
