Public access to campus
We welcome community members to visit our campus, participate in events and explore selected facilities. As a proud public institution, we’re pleased to share our spaces while ensuring they continue to support our students and employees. Our guidelines help keep the campus safe, respectful and supportive for everyone.

Regular access: Most university buildings are open during regular weekday business hours.

After hours and weekends: Access is limited to students, faculty, staff and approved guests with valid university identification.

Wayfinding support: Visitors are encouraged to check in at main reception areas for directions and assistance.

Restricted areas: Research labs, classrooms, residences and staff-only zones require authorization.

We are proud to be part of the Oshawa community and offer visitors access to select campus spaces for their enjoyment.

Event and meeting facilities: Select lecture halls and rooms are available to rent.

Recreation and athletics: Fitness and athletic facilities are open to the public through memberships, or day passes.

Outdoor areas: Visitors are welcome to enjoy campus green spaces and walking paths, in line with university policies.
Our library is a shared space for students, employees and community members.

University community: Students and employees enjoy full borrowing privileges and access to electronic resources with their Ucard.

Public access: Visitors are invited to explore library spaces, use print materials and take part in public programs.

Community borrowing: Non-university users may access borrowing privileges through a community-borrower card (fees may apply).

Study spaces: Quiet study areas and group rooms are prioritized for our students.

Children and families in the library
Children and families are encouraged to explore our collections, attend public programs, and participate in community events. For everyone’s safety, parents and caregivers remain responsible for the care, conduct, and supervision of children.

Children under 12: Must be accompanied and supervised by a parent and/or caregiver.

Youth 12 and older: May use the library independently if they follow conduct guidelines, though parents and caregivers remain responsible.
Note: Staff may step in if a child or youth seems upset, at risk, unsafe or left alone after closing to ensure their well-being.
Our campus security is on duty 24/7. To help keep our campus environment respectful and welcoming, we ask visitors to be mindful of the following:
