New students

Welcome to Ontario Tech University!

Follow the steps below to get your Ontario Tech Ucard:

  • Step 1: Register for your courses
    Follow the instructions that apply to you for either Undergraduate course registration or Graduate course registration.
  • Step 2: Submit your photo online
    1. Log in to your CloudCard account using your network credentials.
    2. Read and Agree to the Terms and Conditions.
    3. Review the photo requirements. If your photo does not meet the requirements, it will be rejected and you will be required to resubmit a new photo and your government-issued ID.
    4. Select the Tap to upload your photo box and either take your photo on-the-spot if using a mobile device or select a photo you already have saved.
    5. Click Next.
    6. Upload a copy of your valid government-issued photo ID by selecting the Tap to upload your photo box. Once your photo is approved, your government-issued ID will be fully deleted from the system. Valid government-issued photo ID includes: Driver's licence, passport, Canadian citizenship card, permanent resident card, provincial photo ID card. Please ensure all four corners of your government-issued photo ID are showing. Images must be jpg or png.
    7. Click Next.
    8. Once you are satisfied with your photo and copy of government-issued ID, click Save & Submit.
  • Step 3: Wait for your approval email

    If your photo meets our Ucard requirements, you will receive an approval email to your ontariotechu.net account within 2 to 3 business days. 

    Note: If your online photo submission does not meet our requirements and is rejected, you will receive an email directing you to resubmit a new photo and your government-issued ID.

  • Step 4: Access your Ucard

    Once you have received your approval email, access your digital Ucard through our Ontario Tech Mobile app

Physical cards

Physical cards will only be issued in specific cases.

  1. Physical cards will only be issued to those who require proximity (prox) access to rooms and nursing badges for placements. 
  2. If you do not meet these requirements and would like to request a non-mandatory physical Ucard, please email ucard@ontariotechu.ca.
  3. Note: A $10 administrative fee will apply for non-mandatory cards. For information on fees, please visit the Miscellaneous and Administrative Fees web page.

Nursing badges

Nursing badges are issued to all new nursing students.

  1. Nursing badges are valid for the expected duration of your program. 
  2. Once your photo is approved, your nursing badge will be printed and you will be notified via email.
  3. If you have any questions or require a replacement nursing badge, please email ucard@ontariotechu.ca.
