Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

Experts and research

We have the expertise to solve energy-related problems

We are advancing the technologies and clean energy systems that families, businesses and communities can rely upon today and for the future. Through research, testing and commercialization, we are advancing technologies and systems to decarbonize the energy that heats our homes, fuels our transportation and powers our lives. Through engineering, science and other inter-disciplinary education and work-integrated learning programs, we are training the talent and building the knowledge necessary to meet the scale and speed of innovation necessary. And, we are helping communities, companies and policy makers make decisions to address climate change, eliminate energy poverty, and build an earth-friendly future that benefits everyone.

We focus energy research and expertise on four areas:

Clean energy technologies

Clean energy technologies

Powering a carbon-free world with hydro, nuclear, solar, wind, geothermal and other low-carbon energy technologies

Energy in our lives

Energy in our lives

Bringing energy into our transportation, buildings, services and industry through electrification and clean fuels.

Sustainable and effective

Sustainable and effective

Making energy cleaner, safer and people-centred through advanced manufacturing, robotics, data and digital solutions, artificial intelligence, risk assessment and sustainable practices.

Energy labs, centres and institutes
