Work-integrated learning

Students gain experience through co-op, internships and projects that connect academic learning with industry practice. These opportunities build practical skills, strengthen professional networks and prepare graduates to contribute from day one.

The Student Enrichment Program further connects students with industry partners, providing hands-on experience and exposure to energy challenges.

Learning through application

Learning takes place in labs, facilities and project-based environments that reflect how energy systems function. Students work with current technologies and tools used across the sector, from simulation and testing to system design and performance analysis.

Capstone projects and student research provide opportunities to solve open-ended, industry-informed challenges and apply knowledge in project settings.

Graduate pathways extend this learning through professional graduate diplomas, master’s and PhD programs, as well as specialized offerings through the UNENE program.

Industry-connected programs

Programs are informed by industry and aligned with workforce demand in energy systems, infrastructure and emerging technologies. This ensures graduates are prepared for roles in engineering, operations, policy and innovation.

For professionals, programs such as the Nuclear Career Accelerator and executive education through EDGE provide targeted pathways into the energy sector, supporting upskilling and career transitions aligned with industry needs.

Students also engage in innovation and entrepreneurship through initiatives such as Brilliant Catalyst, connecting ideas with real-world application.
