Engagement Opportunities

We welcome feedback from the community and there will be lots of opportunity to learn more and get involved.  We will continue to share more information through various activities.  Below is a list of planned engagements and please check back regularly to see the latest events.

  • January 30, 2024, 2-3:15pm: CNL & WiE Co-Op Panel and Tour. Location: Software and Informatics Research (SIRC), Room 1350 and TOUR IN ERC -  Nuclear Facility Complex.  This event is open to Ontario Tech students and employees only. Register with Madeline Sialtsis, Women in Engineering & Outreach Coordinator, FEAS.
  • March 23, 1pm-4pm, 2024: Experience Days at Ontario Tech.  Location: Ontario Tech University, North Oshawa Campus.  Register for the event to learn more. Look for the Nuclear Engineering / Health Physics & Radiation Science table.  
  • April 6, Saturday, 2024, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.: Outreach Open Campus Day Location: Ontario Tech University, North Oshawa Campus.  1st Floor Shawenjigewining Hall:  Look for the Subcritical Assembly Project / Radiation Safety Program table.  
  • May 25, Saturday, 2024, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.: Hiawatha First Nation Pow Wow hosted by the Mississaugas of Hiawatha First Nation. Location Serpent Mounds, 221 Serpent Mounds Road, Keene, Ontario.  Look for the Ontario Tech Booth.
  • June 22, Saturday, 2024, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.: Metis Heritage Festival hosted by the Metis Nation of Ontario. Location: Camp Samac, 275 Conlin Rd E, Oshawa.  Look for the Ontario Tech Booth.  
  • August 10, Saturday, 2024, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Tyendinaga Traditional Pow Wow hosted by the Mohawks of Bay of Quinte. Location: Tsi Tkerhetoton Park, 275 Bayshore Rd, Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, Deseronto. Look for the Ontario Tech Booth.

    • March 4, Saturday, 2023, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.: Outreach Open Campus Day Location: Ontario Tech University, North Oshawa Campus.  1st Floor Shawenjigewining Hall:  Look for the Subcritical Assembly Project / Radiation Safety Program table.

    • May 13, Saturday, 2023, 10:00am-2:30pm Science Rendezvous. Location: Ontario Tech University, North Oshawa Campus. 1st floor Energy Systems & Nuclear Research Centre: Look for the Subcritical Assembly Project / Health Physics and Radiation Science table.   
    • May 27, Saturday, 2023, Doors open 10am:  2-Spirit Pow Wow hosted by 2-Spirited People of the 1st Nations.  Location: Downsview Park, Toronto.  Looks for the Ontario Tech University Booth.  Francis is assisting at the booth and can be available in the afternoon to answer questions.
    • June 24, Saturday, 2023, 9:30am-10:30am: Ontario Tech Alumni Day hosted by the Ontario Tech Alumni Association.  Location 1st Floor Shawenjigewining Hall:  Look for the Subcritical Assembly Project table.  Tour available while space lasts.
    • June 24, Saturday, 2023, Doors open 10 am: Oshawa Métis Heritage Celebration hosted by the Oshawa and Durham Region Métis Council (Métis Nation of Ontario).  Location: Children's Arena, 155 Arena Street, Oshawa,ON,Canada, Oshawa, Canada.  Look for the Ontario Tech Booth.
    • August 26, Saturday, 2023, 10-5pm: Rama First Nation Pow Wow hosted by the Chippewas of Rama First Nation. Location: John Snake Multipurpose Grounds, Ontario.  Look for the Ontario Tech Booth.
    • September 16, Saturday, 2023, 10-5pm: Curve Lake First Nation Pow Wow hosted by the Mississaugas of Curve Lake First Nation. Location: Lime Kiln Park, 70 Whetung Street East, Curve Lake First Nation, Ontario.  Look for the Ontario Tech Booth.
    • September 16, Saturday, 2023, 10-4pm: OPG's Community Power Expo (Open House) hosted by Ontario Power Generation. Location: Darlington Energy Complex, 1855 Energy Dr., Clarington, ON.  Look for the Ontario Tech Booth.
    • October 21, 2023, 10am-5pm: Ontario Universities Fair hosted by the Ontario University Registrars’ Association.  Location: Metro Toronto Convention Centre, South Building.  Look for the Ontario Tech University section, specifically the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science Booth.
    • October 26, 2023, 11am-1pm: Health, Safety, and Wellness Fair hosted by Ontario Tech's Wellness at Work Team. Location: UA Building Main Floor Atrium, Ontario Tech University Campus.  Look for the Radiation Safety / Subcritical Assembly Project booth.
