AI in Simulation Based Learning
Overview
In simulation-based learning (SBL), Artificial Intelligence (AI) programs are often used to generate and control simulation environments. For example, AI may be used to develop learning environments tailored to the background information or past performance of learners. In this course, students will explore the relationships among AI, simulation fidelity, cost effectiveness and skills transfer effectiveness in SBL.
Please note that this micro-credential is a part of the Artificial Intelligence for Teaching and Learning certificate program and can also be taken as a standalone offering.

Who should attend?
While this micro-credential is designed for educators, and the instructors all have education backgrounds, admission is open to individuals from all sectors. Participants are invited to apply the principles they are learning to whatever their professional setting is. This is done in the belief that applying the principles to your work will make the learning more meaningful and impactful. It also means that discussion forums are enriched by the diversity of experiences.

- Understand the basic operating principles of AI.
- Understand the components of Simulation Based Education (SBE).
- Identify appropriate areas to apply AI to SBE.

You can register for this course through the secure online registration form. All course fees must be paid at the time of registration.
Online meeting times
This program has online meeting times. This means you must attend the virtual class at the specified date and time (see the Schedule tab).
Google Meet, Zoom or Kaltura Virtual Classroom (through Catalog) will be used for online delivery of this program to support interaction and engagement.
This course may include, but is not limited to:
- Content presentations and/or videos;
- Hands-on exercises;
- Case discussions and simulations;
- Group and individual work (assignments/quizzes);
- Concept and topic discussions; and
- Topic reflections.

Requirements
To successfully complete this micro-credential, you must:
- Register and make full payment for the micro-credential;
- Attend all micro-credential meeting times;
- Actively participate in all components of the micro-credential; and
- Successfully complete any assigned work by due date

- Audio device (examples: speakers, headphones/earbuds, headset)
*Webcam is preferred but not required.
Material requirements
There are no additional materials required for this program.
OSAP for Micro-credentials is available for eligible students taking a ministry-approved micro-credential that is less than 12 weeks. To be eligible for OSAP for Micro-credentials, a student must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or a protected person; and, be a resident of Ontario.
