Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

Notes about the data:

  • All data summarize official student enrolment as reported by Ontario Tech University to the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. Unless otherwise indicated, all enrolments are as of November 1, 2019. Students pursuing more than one degree are counted within their major field of study. The methodology used in calculating all counts is considered true as of the date of publication.

  • While Ontario Tech opened its doors to students in 2003, the data displayed in the dashboard is from 2004-2019.

  • Students in the Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Education (Concurrent) program are counted in the Faculty of Science in Years 1 to 4, and in the Faculty of Education in Year 5. This pertains to the years 2004 to 2017.

  • Prior to 2011, the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities was known as the Faculty of Criminology, Justice and Policy.

  • Starting in 2022-23 the Faculty of Energy Systems and Nuclear Science moved to a division within the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science. Data was not updated within the system until 2023-24 where all counts appear in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science.
  • The Excel version of the dashboard is only available to the Ontario Tech staff. Should you need access to this format, please contact CognosSupport@ontariotechu.ca
