Shauna McMurray
Growing up in Northern Ontario, on Manitoulin Island, Shauna had the opportunity to play and explore, with driven curiosities, the natural sciences within her environment.
Following her love of science and learning, Shauna pursued a bachelor of sciences, with a concentration in chemistry, at the University of Windsor followed by a bachelor of education.
Shauna has enjoyed her past experiences immersing science instruction in both mainstream and special education classroom settings, inclusive of gifted learning, for both elementary and secondary. In addition to classroom instruction as a teacher, Shauna reveled in facilitating adult learners within Special Education Additional Qualification courses at Ontario Tech University, supporting educators in their skill sets to have knowledge of neurodiverse learners and strategies of differentiated instruction and feedback for student success!
As an elementary principal within the DDSB, Durham District School Board, Shauna is passionate in facilitating and supporting educators in their classroom instruction and integrating science instruction across all curriculum subjects, for both indoor and outdoor learning.
Shauna loves spending time with her two sons, one in secondary school and one in elementary, her husband and Furgirl dog - Maizy! Hiking, camping, skiing and swimming are some favourite pastimes. Shauna also absolutely loves to lose herself in a fantastic book or refinishing furniture.
Shauna looks forward to instructing the Science General - Intermediate course and working with curious educators!
