John Platz CMC, BA
Platz & Associates Inc (www.platzandassociates.com) was created in 1995 to provide external support to client organizations particularly to support organization change, strategic human resources and industrial relations, strategic business planning, compensation review and executive coaching. The client base includes not-for-profit clients, hotels, franchise organizations.
During John’s corporate days, he has held the position of Vice President Human Resources with several Canadian companies including Weston Bakeries, Griffith Laboratories, Livingston International and Commonwealth Hospitality. He also occupied the senior role with Brunswick Mining & smelting in Bathurst New Brunswick, a subsidiary of Noranda. He oversaw all facets of human resource management including industrial relations, recruitment, training and development, occupational health and safety, performance management, compensation, and change management.
John is a long-time instructor at the Schulich School of Business at York University. He has also negotiated almost 200 collective agreements in various industries across Canada as a chief spokesperson spanning 40 plus years.
He currently sits on the board of a private international company and has been on or chaired several not-for-profit organizations including the Hills of Headwaters Tourism Association, Regional Tourism Organization #6 (Central Counties), Ladybird Animal Sanctuary, Equestrian Canada and East Wellington Family Health Team.
He has recently been appointed as a Chairman with TEC, a national executive coaching organization for CEO’s.
John is a Certified Management Consultant as a member of the Canadian Association of Management Consultants, as well as a member of The Global Forum for Cross-Border Human Resources Experts, an international HR/employment law association. (www.xbhr.com)
