Automate Your World

In-person delivery
Ages 14 to 17 (high school grades)
Co-ed

Dive into the exciting world of automation and engineering! Through this hands-on program, participants will explore how technology and coding can control the world around us. Using Arduino, students will learn the fundamentals of electronics, including sensors and actuators, by experimenting with circuits, breadboards, and programming to bring their ideas to life.

Throughout the week, participants will tackle real-world challenges in automation, learning how engineers use the Engineering Design Process to design systems to make everyday tasks smarter, more efficient, and interactive. The central project puts these skills into action: students will design, build, and program their own smart home system, integrating lights, motors, sensors, and more to create an automated environment.

By the end, participants will gain confidence in coding and electronics, deepen their understanding of automation, and see firsthand how engineering can transform ideas into reality.

This program features the same content as the Summer 2025 Smart Home Automation with Arduino Camp.

Features:
  • daily outdoor cooperative activities
  • interactive learning approach with simplification of complex topics
  • problem solving and design-based thinking
  • hands-on activities and/or experiment
  • counsellors demonstrate excellence in engineering and science, strong leadership skills, past experience working with youth, and enthusiasm towards education
