Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

Parking

Important: Please be advised that parking spaces at the Ontario Tech University campuses are limited and parking passes are only available on a first-come-first-serve basis. We urge you to purchase your parking pass early, but cannot guarantee parking space will be available. Thank you for your cooperation.

Parking permit sales for January 2023 are available on IPASS on Monday, December 5, at 10:00 a.m.

Annual and semester passes – Current Permit Holder – North Campus

  • Existing fall semester permit holders who require a winter semester or annual parking pass are required to re-register online through Precise Parklink’s Interactive Parking Access Subscriber System*  IPASS.
  • Current users will be required to modify their user name to access IPASS and re-register for Winter 2023 semester or Annual (2022-2023) permits. (Example: Current User Name “RIDGEBACKS” modify to “RIDGEBACKS2022”).
  • Students that currently have a parking access card must input the card number into IPASS during the re-registration process. This card will then be activated upon IPASS approval. No further action will be required by the purchaser.
  • After completing the registration, an email will be sent within 24 to 48 business hours from IPASS.
  • The email response from IPASS will be:
    • An approval email with follow-up instructions.
    • A disapproval email due to non-institutional email on application.
    • A disapproval email due to incorrect credit card or banking information.
    • A disapproval email due to full capacity reached in the requested lot.
  • In the instance of a disapproval email, please re-submit the parking request through IPASS making the appropriate correction (institutional email, correct banking information), or choosing a different lot.
  • Students purchasing winter semester or annual parking permits must ensure the ACTIVATION DATE on the IPASS application indicates  JANUARY 1, 2023.

  • First-time purchasers who require a winter semester or annual parking pass are required to register online through  IPASS.
  • Students purchasing winter semester or annual parking permits must ensure the ACTIVATION DATE on the IPASS application indicates  JANUARY 1, 2023.
  • Payment for parking permits can be made through the IPASS registration website either through a credit card or pre-authorized payment.
  • Students are required to use their institutional email address when registering.
  • After completing the registration, an approval email will be sent within 24 to 48 hours.
  • The email response from IPASS will be:
    • An approval email with follow-up instructions.
    • A disapproval email due to non-institutional email on application.
    • A disapproval email due to incorrect credit card or banking information.
    • A disapproval email due to full capacity reached in the requested lot.
  • In the instance of a disapproval email, please re-submit the parking request through IPASS making the appropriate correction (institutional email, correct banking information), or choosing a different lot.
  • Students should pick up their access card or hang tag prior to Friday, January 6, 2023, at the Parking Office in the Gordon Willey building at the Oshawa campus, between Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Initial access cards will be provided at no charge. Replacement cards can be requested for $25.

Daily parking

  • Daily parking is available in two types of lots –Pay & Display or gated lots.
  • The cost for daily parking is $5 per hour with a maximum of $18 per day.
  • Tap debit and credit card payment is now available at exit gates.
  • Pay Stations accept cash, coins, debit and credit cards and are located in the Founders 2 lot (south-east corner), and Commencement lot at the Oshawa campus.

DOWNTOWN ONTARIO TECH STUDENTS

Students requiring parking in Downtown Oshawa are encouraged to independently arrange for monthly parking permits through either the  City of Oshawa or for the Bruce Street Parking lot situated at 71 Bruce Street, email  71bruceparking@gmail.com to arrange for a Student Rate of $60 per month including HST.
