In our Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Digital Media Studies (CDMS) – Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Professional Communicators specialization, you’ll learn how to use AI and large language models to develop engaging content across video, graphics, writing and more, while building the critical thinking skills needed to understand audiences, platforms and impact.
Whether you’re interested in careers in public relations, business, media, policy or entrepreneurship, you’ll graduate with the tools to create smarter, more effective content. Just as importantly, you’ll explore the ethical and social dimensions of AI, guided by expert faculty who will help you develop a responsible, values-driven approach to communication in a rapidly evolving digital world.

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Professional Communicators specialization can be taken in the Communication and Digital Media Studies program.
I wanted to better understand the apps I was using and our communication environment, and this program was the perfect way to do that—whether it was about advertisements, social networking sites, news or influencers, I was learning about the digital media world. Current Ontario secondary school students must complete the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with six 4U or 4M courses, including English (ENG4U).
Note: Admission is competitive. The specific average or standing required for admission varies from year to year. Students are selected by taking into consideration a wide range of criteria including school marks, distribution of subjects taken and performance in subjects relevant to the academic program. Possession of the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance. Preference will be given to applicants with the best qualifications.

Experiential learning
A limited number of fourth-year students have an opportunity to participate in a learning experience with a community organization. The practicum is an experiential learning tool that provides students with opportunities to acquire workplace skills and knowledge, confront the relationship between theory and practice, and cultivate a sense of personal and professional development. The practicum course consists of 100 hours of fieldwork, several in-class seminars and a set of academic assignments.
